Imagine swimming amongst a kaleidoscope of marine life such as large groupers, moray eels, octopus, rainbow wrasse, even turtles, rays and the notoriously friendly DOLPHIN if you are lucky. All this back dropped by a sea that encrusted with brilliantly colored anemones and coral. Perhaps you are a bit of an archaeologist? The area is steeped in ancient history. Who knows amongst the curious caverns rambling reefs, there may be relics from the days of Alexander the Great, just waiting to be discovered.

DIVE SITES FOR EXPERIENCED DIVERS

Hidayet Bay

At 8m a good spot for training with lots of small fish and sponges. There are many fish between 10 & 25 m: stingray, sponges & moray.

Limanagzi Wall

The wall has a length of approximately 200m and, in parts has a depth of 40m. Here can be found amphoras, groupers, moray fish and, sometimes, lobster. A small wreck at 17m.

Lighthouse Ottoman Ship Wreck

Near the lighthouse the hulk of a 150-year-old ship at 22m, also at this site there are barrels from the hold of the ship. Amongst the great variety of sea-life to be discovered here are many grouper, octopus and moray. And, in season jack-fish, mackerel, barracudas and loggerhead sea turtles (Carretta Carretta) all along a small reef.

Cave One:

Close to the bay of Limanagzi a small cave 9m deep, lots of small fish, generally mackerel and barracuda

Lighthouse Reef

Near the lighthouse the hulk of a 150-year-old ship at 22m, also at this site there are barrels from the hold of the ship. Amongst the great variety of sea-life to be discovered here are many grouper, octopus and moray. And, in season jack-fish, mackerel, barracudas and loggerhead sea turtles (Carretta Carretta) all along a small reef.

Stone Edge

This site boasts an interesting underwater geography due to the number of large rocks scattered around the site. Included in the fish here are moray, Pandora, sea bream and octopus. There are also amphoras.

Besmi Island

Enormous Amphora at 40m, which divers can actually enter are the specialty of this site. At certain times of year it is possible to swim with literally hundreds of barracuda and mackerel. Also found are big groupers and jack-fish.

Flying Fish

The name says it all. A site better appreciated by experienced divers. The feeling of being enveloped in a swirl of every variety of local fish makes this one of the most exhilarating dive sites around. Amongst many of the surprises at the south of this reef is a famous wreck: an Italian JU52 Aero plane at 55m.

The Canyon

Starting from at depth of 2m you slowly descend into the narrow mouth of the canyon through several shades of blue until at a depth of about 25m you encounter yellow, brown and orange soft coral. The final surprise, the wreck of steel hulled cargo vessel at 35m.

Capa Banko

Another site of which the origin of the name is lost. Capa means anchor and the site is home to many old anchors. Also here there are blue snails and small corals. The site boasts some unusual Old millstones dating from Ottoman times.

French Candies Reef

The name probably refers to the sugar-like rock formations to be found here. The diving here ranges from 7 to 25m wherein can be found soft coral, a small canyon, moray, sponge and other fish.

Three Rocks

One of best diving sites in the whole area. There is a reef starting at a depth of 5m that resembles an island. This site has an astonishing number of ancient amphoras and, each in its season; every type of underwater life common to this area will pay a visit to this famous site. Amphora, fish.

Gurmenli Island 1

This is located in a small bay and the underwater environment is like a lunar landscape. Jellyfish, calamari, lobster, grouper, barracuda and bream are amongst the very rich variety at this site.

Gurmenli Island 2

The best wall dive in the area. The wall has a total length of 300m and a depth of about 40m. The site boasts many old anchors. Every variety of underwater life is in abundance here. Lots of rays.

Meatball Island

An unusual name that derives from the island's resemblance to kofte (Turkish meatball). The site is situated off the furthest point of the Kas peninsula. At this reef can be found soft coral plus many moray and octopus.

Guvercin Island

The name means Pigeon Island and during the migration season many nest on this small island. Many fish between 10 & 25 m: stingray, sponges & moray and good for training. One of the best sites in the Mediterranean to spot Loggerhead Sea Turtles.
