A spiritual journey into the history of heavenly religions... Explore the past of and today of Judaism in Turkey... Visit various synagogues in Istanbul, Smirna, Sardes, Bursa and Canakkale.

Day 1 - Istanbul (D)

Arrival at Istanbul. Escorted transfer to hotel. Welcome drink and briefing. Dinner and overnight stay in Istanbul.

Day 2 - Istanbul  (B)

Morning visit to a Jewish neighborhood, Galata. You will see the Galata tower built by the Genoese in 1303. Visit the local synagogues, Neve Shalom and the Askenazy Synagogue. After lunch, visit the Hippodrome, a 3rd century site, where chariots raced during the Roman period. Visit the Blue Mosque, famous for its blue tiles and six minarets. Visit St. Sophia, a world heritage site built in the 6th century. 

Day 3- Istanbul  ( B )

Day 4- Istanbul ( B )

Depart from hotel for a visit of the Balat neighborhood where you will see the star of David appearing on building facades. Visit the 15th Ahrida and the Yanbol synagogues. Visit the Jewish home for the elderly along the Golden Horn. After lunch visit Grand Covered Bazaar.

Day 5- Istanbul - Izmir (B) (D)

Transfer to Istanbul airport for morning departure to Izmir. Transfer to hotel. Visit  the Senora Synagogue, Bikur Holim, and the well-preserved Bet Israel Synagogue in the city, where the Jewish community dates back more than 2000 years. Drive to Sardes, the Capital of ancient Lydia, there visit one of the world’s oldest synagogues. View the significant ruins of the Acropolis. Visit the Temple of Cybele and Diana, which later became a church. See the golden river Pactalos and the Royal Road. Then visit the reconstructed Synagogue, the Gymnasium and the new excavation area. Return to Izmir for overnight.

Day 6 - Ephesus ( B ) (D )

A full-day excursion to Ephesus, an ancient Ionian city, dedicated to the goddess Artemis whose temple is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the world. View the Marble Street, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, Terrace Houses, the Odeon, the Baths of Scholastica and the Theater. Afterwards, drive to up to a lovely village, Sirince. Dinner and overnight stay in Kusadasi.

Day 7- Miletus - Didyma - Priene ( B ) (D )

 Visit the interesting remnants of these Ionian sites in their dramatic settings and see the synagogues at the sites of Miletus and Priene. Dinner and overnight stay in Kusadasi.

Day 8- Pergamon - Canakkale ( B ) (D )

 (BD) Morning drive to see the ruins of Pergamon, a notable medical and cultural centre in antiquity. View the Acropolis, Asclepion. See the Red Basilica and the grave stones whose inscriptions are in Hebrew. Head for Canakkale, situated on the Dardanelles, and see the legendary city of Troy. Dinner and overnight stay in Canakkale.

Day 9- Canakkale - Bursa ( B ) (D )

Morning visit to the Shalom Synagogue and then drive to Bursa, where Jewish people first settled 2100 years ago. Arrival in Bursa, view the city’s splendid monuments from the Ottoman period. Dinner and overnight in Bursa.

Day 10- Bursa - Istanbul ( B ) (D )

Bursa - Istanbul Visit the 15th century Yerusch Synagogue in Bursa then drive to Istanbul. Remainder of the day spent at your leisure. Farewell dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11- Istanbul (B)

Istanbul/Tour Ends Transfer to Istanbul Airport for flight back to home.
