Day 1 - Istanbul (B)

Arrive at Istanbul Ataturk International Airport. Clear through customs. Meeting, assistance and transfer to your hotel. This evening, there will be a short briefing about the tour program and then welcome dinner. 

Day 2 - Istanbul (B)(L)

Full day tour of the city’s highlights. Visit the fourteenth-century Church of the Holy Savior in Chora, which has some of the finest Byzantine mosaics. Our next stop is Sultan Ahmet Mosque, built by Sultan Ahmet I in 1616, and popularly known as the Blue Mosque because of its interior blue tile decorations; walking through the ancient Hippodrome where the chariot races took place in antiquity. Visit the world famous Hagia Sophia Church, which is now, a museum, dating back to the 6th century. For almost a thousand years it remained as the largest cathedral of the world. Dinner and .Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 3 - Istanbul (B)(L)

We will start the day with a visit to the Spice Market followed by a cruise along the Bosphorus, which separates Asia from Europe. Then visit the magnificent Topkapi Palace, the residence of the Ottoman Sultans for 400 years. Enjoy the exquisite collection of Chinese porcelain, the stunning Imperial Treasury including the “Spoonmaker’s Diamond” and the “Topkapi Dagger” Next visit is the Basilica Cistern, a wonderfully eerie underground chambers of 336 columns built by Justinian in AD 532. Late in the afternoon tour to Grand Baazar, an old shopping mall with its 4.000 stores.

Day 4 - Istanbul - Iznik - Bursa (B)(D)

Morning drive to Bursa the first capital of Ottomans. Stop in the city of Iznik, ancient Nicaea en route where the first and the last ecumenical councils were held. Visit the ruins of Haghia Sophia from 6th century. Proceed to Bursa along the Iznik Lake upon arrival visit the Green Mosque and Green Mausoleum of Sultan Mehmet I. which represent the features of early Ottoman architectury. Dinner and overnight in Bursa.

Day 5 - Bursa - Pergamon - Izmir  (B)(D)

First of the Seven Churches of Revelation, Pergamon. St. John speaks of Pergamon as "the place where Satan has his throne" (Revelation 2:31) visit the Hellenistic Acropolis with the ruins of famous library and the Roman Temple of Trajan. Continue to Asclepion nearby the lower city which was the great medical center and school of medicine where Galen was taught.

Day 6 - Izmir - Ephesus - Izmir (B)(D)

Izmir, ancient Smyrna where Homer was born. After an orientation tour of Izmir which is second of the Churches of Revelation on our itinerary. Drive to Ephesus the Roman capital of Asia-minor where the 4th Ecumenical Council met. Visit the extensive ruins of Ephesus from 2nd and 3rd Centuries including the Celsus Library and Great Theatre where St. Paul preached. Continue to Church of St. John 6th Century built by Justinian on the tomb of the Saint. In the afternoon drive to House of Virgin Mary where she is believed to have spent her last days.

Day 7 - Izmir - Pamukkale (B)(D)

After breakfast drive to Thyatira which was founded by Lydians and famous with its coppersmiths, slave dealers and leather workers. Also mentioned in the book of revelation by St. John, see the ruins of the early Christian Basilisca, a colonnaded road and a large Church. Proceed to Sardis which is one of the most picturesque areas of the Seven Churches. (The Book of revelation Chapter 3 vs 1-6 refers) Then continue to Philedelphia, which was the last distinguished of the cities of the Seven Churches. (The Book of Revelation Chapter 3 vs 7-13 refers)

Day 8 - Pamukkale - Antalya (B)(D)

After breakfast, visit Hierapolis which is traditionally associated with St. Philip where his Martyrium has been found and was listed by St. Paul as the center of Epaphras's work. Papias, a Discipline of St. John and author of the book "the saying of Jesus" lived here (St. Paul's Epistle to the Collosea, to whom St. Paul addressed an Epistle was the "owner" of the slave Onesimus so both are associated with his Christian city (St. Paul's Epistle to the Colossoans was addressed to this community). Then continue to Laodicea, the city's origin go back to the 3rd Century B.C. and was located at the crossroads of north-south traffic from the Euphrates. Its reputation was for money transactions and the good quality raven black wool. Possibly the "lukewarm" springs the Hierapolis (Pamukkale) that flowed through the city were used as a backdrop in the Book of Revelations reference to this community. Today in the afternoon we will have a brilliant lecture about the Turk's national art carpet and kilim weaving. Drive south to Antalya on Taurus Mountains. Dinner and overnight in Antalya.

Day 9 - Antalya (B)(D)

Departure to the Pamphilian city of Perge. Visit the outstanding Greco-Roman ruins. See the best preseved Roman Baths, Hellenistic Gate complex, Stadium and the Agora. Drive to Aspendos to see best preserved Roman theatre of Turkey from antiquity. A shopping opportunity at jewelry center on the way toAntalya. In Antalya visit the Archeological museum which was rewarded as the best museum of Europe in 1995.

Day 10 - Antalya (B)

Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
